All your comments much appreciated. Everything back to normal stomach wise and I have decided to keep a food diary of sorts before I go to the GP as I know certain foods aggravate it. Fats of any kind are definitely a big no except olive oil. Disappointed not to have run that SB I was hoping for but will just have to be patient. Onwards and upwards ! @NZChris Hello! You most likely won't remember me (forever) but you were always inspirational when I used the forums on RW. Great to see you are still running and still have a marathon in your legs! Good luck with your training for Chicago. @NZD it sounds very similar to the V02 max score that Garmin tells me after each run. forest plodder sorry to hear you are still having trouble with you chest. That has been quite a while now ? |

Hilly - 5ks are so much easier than marathons! I run marathons now only to see if I can get to the finish! Good luck with Chester marathon. Alehouse - are you able to walk with your injury? Torque Steer - low heart rate - walk/running seems to work well. Canute - see you are doing the walk/run thing too - have you been injured? Solo - you have some impressive times on your bio. Welsh Poppy - well done on the 6 miler. I ran just over 5km this morning with 2 mins striding, 2 mins easy - always try to make my run worthwhile because most days I am walking. |

@NZChris good to hear you are still 'still keeping on keeping on'! Not surprised a 26 km run off dog walking prep would be tough going. Well done. A good start for Chicago. WP: I'm still failing to warm to the idea of an ice bath! Glad you are enjoying it though. TS & Canute: Positive 'knee' news, with decent improvements from both of you. Incidentally TS, reactive arthritis used to be called Reiter's Syndrome. You may have heard of it as that? Solo, food diary makes sense even though stomach is now back to normal. alehouse, hope your hamstring settles quickly. May need to take it even more cautiously for a while longer. Similar conditions this morning though a touch warmer due to starting an hour later. Another 8.3k, including 4x 400m - 700m efforts (~4:45 pace). Didn't really feel up to them but knew they were needed. Tough going, hence only four! Certainly impacted HR (129/152)! Watch not impressed by the latter, PL back down to 50 (seems to favour slower with lower HR). Likely overall tiredness after a (record!) five day streak. G'kids here early tomorrow morning so five will remain the record ... Probably not PC here but are looking forward to the break. |

NZC - started the above before lunch but only just posted so didn't see yours before posting. Decent 5km effort. Your 2min strides seem close to my ~400m efforts (except mine were irregularly spaced to fit with terrain & exhaustion!). |

Solo - hope the food diary helps to eliminate any food culprits of stomach distress. WP -.I have mixed feelings over iced baths. I used to do them back in my earlier days of running then I read a few reviews saying they were not necessary so because they were so unpleasant I stopped doing them. I only ever did them after 20 plus mile runs though. What benefit do you feel they bring? NZC - I kove 5ks like I used to love marathons. π I've wanted an England Masters vest over the marathon for a few years so am going to enjoy the experience come what May! I then have Brighton marathon in April which was going to be a sub 3.15 attempt. Although I'm quite a way off that currently... After that I've been thinking of hanging up the marathon shoes or just do one on each new age group block, so the next wouldn't be until I'm 65. Knowing me this will be pie in the sky though... My Achilles doesn't like marathon training sadly and to be fair it takes a lot of managing. I do get excited by 5k races too and this year came back to track races and loved those, so plenty to go at in the future. Well done on your run. I enjoy strides and do quite a few myself during the week. π Well done NZD. Good to have a strong run the day before ending your streak. Enjoy time with grandkids! We're still awsy so both hubby and I are fancying a longer run today, so will head off and see what unfolds as no pressure...π Wordle in 4. |

Hilly remind me next year when you are taking your holidays - you appear to have had the best of our "summer" ![]() May is a good time for a marathon - winter training regime for long runs is a lot easier when trying to keep warm rather than cool! NZC remind me how many times you have done your local marathon? ![]() That was a lot of strides! NZD the upper level of distance will certainly push the HR up - once past 400m you are getting into anaerobic territory - so a good work out FP Poundbury is a very long story with many twists - I'll plot out the key themes at some stage ![]() alehouse life in the old dog Fox yet last night ![]() Canute Know Lindale quite well = we often go across to the Lakes for a mini break and I enjoy that approach along the southern end to Newby Bridge - lucky you! Not to bad for me here as from my study I can see all the way to the Pennines and with sheep in the field opposite my house. I saw I was falling behind Canute in my walk/ run efforts, not that I am competitive, so increased to 15 walk/runs covering 2.25 miles in 30min with HR 122/146 as I had to tackle a bigger hill than normal! Pleasing symmetry to the bumps Off now for a couple of days mini break - knee probably needs it! |

NZD & NZC, we visited Oz and NZ last year and loved it, especially NZ although we only got 2 weeks there. My M60 parkrun records still stand in Christchurch (hagley park), and Aukland (Cornwall park). We planned to go back and spend more time in NZ next year but may have to delay it by a year. WP good luck with iced bath. If I even put my foot in the sea I scream like a baby. The 5 year age blocks are good strategy for future marathons hilly. I'm going to keep at it for now, but suspect I'll also need an exit strategy in the next few years. Did you get the mail from EA? It seems BMAF once again incorporated the British marathon champs at Chester. May as well try for both but you have to enter them seperately. I think on balance I prefer 5ks to marathons, mainly because parkrun. This weeks parkrun is Keswick if all goes to plan. Welsh pony glad you enjoyed the rainy 6 miler. As long as it's warm rain I don't mind. I did a last run in Greenwich Park this morning and now travelling north. I might go for a double day if the legs feel OK this evening. After last week's cold affected slow week I'd like to get 60 miles in the bag this week. Only 7 weeks until Chester marathon. |
