Just take two bats, Flatlander. The guitar has always puzzled me as I reckon the fretting is the hard part, but righties do it with the left hand, and lefties vv. Are there left handed pianos? (off to search) Left handed guitarist here - what you say makes sense... why leave the intricate part to the non-dominant hand... but we do. Cutlery and eating is another one that makes no sense. I can't cut anything well with my right hand, but that's how I eat - like a right handed person... my mum is left handed, my dad probably should have been but it was beaten out of him; my two brothers are right handed. 2/3 right handers eat left-handed, and 2/2 lefties eat right-handed. |

I got sent home from school guitar lessons with a letter saying he wouldn't teach me left handed so I never did learn.

My mum had to find someone prepared to take me on as I progressed, but thankfully the school guitar teacher was the first one to say yes. My first guitars (in fact all my guitars) were right-handed converted to left - so always a slight compromise. |

I remember having to teach my nephew to tie a tie and tie his shoes as he is also left handed and no one else in the family is.

Left handed guitarist here - what you say makes sense... why leave the intricate part to the non-dominant hand. Apart from the various fretted instruments I play, the button accordion also uses the left hand much more than the right. I wonder whether the right hemisphere is more used for music or something. |

The guitar has always puzzled me as I reckon the fretting is the hard part, but righties do it with the left hand, and lefties vv Notable examples of lefties playing right handed include Gary Moore and Steve Morse*. There are, no doubt, others. I'm a righty - and have often thought that we do it the wrong way round. I might feel differently if I'd ever been any good at finger picking. *It's my understanding that Morse grew up playing lefty, and then decided that he'd be better off playing righty and so taught himself to play that way. The results speak for themselves. |

Good news today. My school friend who has bowel cancer that spread to his liver has been havening chemo to hopefully shrink the liver tumors to a size that could be operated on. It turns out he's a lucky fella and has the kind of cancer that responds well to the chemo. They can schedule operations on his liver and bowel, so there is hope. Much better to hear than his soon to be wife's very dark humour, "let's have a picture of you both so I know who you are at the funeral." |

Great news Groundhog. I’m hoping my friend has her CT scan tomorrow to see if hers has spread to any other area. |
