I made only one item in school woodwork. A pencil box. I must have made it reasonably well, because 55 years later I still have it and it is still in use. I look after things. |

Sigh It sounds as if you were a craftsman, even at that young age.

Thanks, Flatlander! We had to design them as well, and marks were given for the level of complexity. My stool used stub mortise and tenon joints at the corners. I was disappointed with the seat as I just used a router for that, but scored well on the joints which were all cut by hand, carefully!

Sigh My pencil box wasn't so complexly joined as your stool, just simple corners. I do remember in the woodworking class practising making dovetail joints in bits of wood. We had no advanced tools only handtools, so I had to use just a handsaw and chisel. I was moderately pleased that the joints were reasonably close fitting. Our woodworking classes only ran for about one term, if that. Thanks Night-owl |

I made a bottle opener in metal work. Can't remember what I made in woodwork though.

I made cheesy scrambled eggs on toast in Home Economics. And knitted a cat puppet.
