The College Arms in Linton-on-Ouse had a nice curry house, as did The Station at Tollerton (or maybe that one was a Chinese...).

They used to bring a mini-bus load of staff over each afternoon to run it through the evening, and take them away after they (finally) closed. They were Bradford curries at York prices, though!

Allegedly more curry houses per head of population than anywhere except Bradford. Not sure I believe it, but there are a lot compared to wherever else we go in the UK on holiday!
