Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Rather partial to a paratha with my curry, had one at the weekend when we ventured north of the border to friends in Dumfries

The sandwich I have just eaten seems very unsatisfying now...

When we lived in North Yorks there were quite a few pubs had diversified into exotic takeaways out the side door. The College Arms in Linton-on-Ouse had a nice curry house, as did The Station at Tollerton (or maybe that one was a Chinese...).

Curry in the Bradford area (originally I’m from Keighley) growing up was never sweet. And I really miss chapattis… my big brother introduced me to curry as my dad ‘wouldn’t touch that foreign muck’ and never has….

On my run today I noticed that the Kashmiri restaurant on Micklegate (a tentacle of the Bradford parent company) has gone, completely. They used to bring a mini-bus load of staff over each afternoon to run it through the evening, and take them away after they (finally) closed.

They were Bradford curries at York prices, though!

MrsC worked in the centre of That London for a couple of years and we went occasionally to the curry houses on Brick Lane. They were all unlicensed, as I recall.

Around here, unlicensed and mostly cash only!
Allegedly more curry houses per head of population than anywhere except Bradford. Not sure I believe it, but there are a lot compared to wherever else we go in the UK on holiday!

The Nepalese restaurant near to us, run by ex-Gurkhas, serves Chocolate Samosas among other 'sweet' dishes.

Things I miss about Birmingham #7ish - though if I missed curry that much I'd pick up a takeaway from Workington, where we have a couple of unexpectedly good curry houses, on my way home from work.
