I love cruise control. If the limit is 30, set it to 30, if 40 set it to 40. No fear of speeding tickets ever.

And while you’re fiddling about setting it you’ve missed a speed camera or collided with something

You don’t have to look at it Dio.

Doesn’t work like that Dio, certainly not in my Octavia, unless you are just as likely to collide with something whilst looking at your speedometer!

I see. I think I’ve only ever driven one or two cars with cruise control and I’ve never bothered finding out how it works

Yep, cruise control is so easy in a VAG group car, e.g. VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat.

In fact as Glenn suggests, when set to 60, you don't even need to look, just press the up button. And the car accelerates to 60 and stays there, until you either cancel or touch the brakes. Some cars, my old Toyota even knocked the cruise control off when you pressed the clutch, but the latest VAG's don't work like that.

I reckon I’ve driven 750,000 miles in the last 20 years and maybe five were using cruise control. It’s terrifying :-O

Our cruise control slows the car if the gap between it and the car in front gets too short. I quite like that, but even so I'd like to decide for myself. In any case an alarm goes off if CC isn't on, but you're getting too close to a slower vehicle. It's like the cockpit of a jumbo jet at times with all the alarms :-)
