you and me both at the forty year of running then IEB! Good to see you here. I tend to reassess things every couple of months(!!) but still seem to be happy enough going for 1,200 miles a year.
I'm similar to Canute in that I'm not training for anything! I haven't raced properly since 1990 and have no desire to---my pb's then are still my pb's whatever my age but I'm not going to get anywhere near a pb again so don't feel the need to enter and pay for a race--which wouldn't be an actual "race" for me anymore. Great that so many people still enjoy entering "events" (as I prefer to call them) for all sorts of reasons though. As I've said here loads of times, I run for enjoyment and always have done.
I'm not sure about your thoughts on increased training leading to improved recovery time Velo..logically I would have thought that increased training would dictate more recovery.

Columba
Doubt if I'll be entering any more "events", though never say never. At present the height of my ambition is to be able to do parkruns again (except there are none anywhere near me), and today I ran for 39 minutes which closely approached the necessary 3 miles.

That's great news Columba! Sounds promising for a parkrun soon :-)

Columba if you could make it to the Fetch Mile at the indoor track in Cardiff in October that would be an 'event' for you (and a lot of fun!)

I have wondered about that, Daisy.

I thought I might be able to tell you about my new skill of pole vaulting today... but I only got as far jumping into the sand pit with the pole before I was tempted away by the high jump (which after all is one of my events and the PV isnt)

8 events in my track training day at Battersea.

I'm knackered!

Well done Sharkie. I’m not surprised that your knackered!

I was put off pole vault at school. We used rigid aluminium poles and I was always too scared to give it a try.

The one time I had to try pv at school the athletics teacher didn't think of telling me that it would be hard work to cling to the pole. A horrible experience in which I probably did not leave the ground.
