steve45: We're birders too, up to a point and know what you mean about having an excuse to stop and watch, or listen. Last Sunday we went for a run round an area of the Yorkshire Dales where we were pretty certain of seeing and hearing our first curlew of the year. We weren't disappointed. We're always thrilled to hear/see our first skylark, wheatear, redshank, lapwing, ring ouzel, etc. as they arrive back to their nest sites. It's all part of running for fun. We'd huge snow drifts to cope with last Sunday too which made it even more fun!
Google 'oldrunningfox' for a peep......

Decided to go to this mornings club run despite the racing being on (Cheltenham). No problems getting there but then I wasn't expecting any. The run was good as were the post-run hot drinks. However it was just as busy as I was expecting driving back through town. Nose to tail all the way and as I got closer and closer to the racecourse, normal pedestrian behaviour seemed to have gone out of the window. Just as well I was driving slowly!

WtnMel, sorry to hear about the ignorant drivers as you passed through Aylesbury, but I might be going there at Easter to see my daughter. If so, I will "tell them off."
The forest is drowning under the heavy rain we have been having, it just can't take it. I ran 8 miles in it this morning with Giuliana, or perhaps I should say, walked, waded and occasionally broke into a run. We didn't see any other runners, but there were a few hardy dog walkers, wearing sensible wellingtons.
Snow is forecast for the forest area on Sunday, so I will get in a longer run on Saturday, all being well.

I think snow is forecast for most of the country, isn't it? Certainly is for here.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
130mph winds on Cairngorm yesterday, my wife and friends are looking at skiing Saturday so I was checking the conditions. I shall stay near sea level at the British Old Folks Cross Country Champs!
