I go to Copthorne. It's really good although I feel really inadequate. There are some serious triathletes there!

Had a good tri at Dorney last night. Got there in plenty of time and had a good warm up/stretch in the wet suit. Probably took a bit too long getting myself used to being in the water though - although I had planned to start off at the back, when the hooter went I was well behind everyone else!!! Started off as expected and was soon thinking about switching to breast stroke for a breather, but was able to stick to crawl. It took me about 300m before I was swimming comfortably (zigzagging up the lake probably didn't help!), and once I got into my stride I even managed to overtake a few people. Coming back I felt quite strong (but still slow) and it was a lot easier to stay in a straight line 'cos we were swimming along the rowing lane buoys and the cord tying them together was visible at the bottom of the lake. Going past the last marker bouy and heading back to the start was a bit difficult though - I couldn't see a thing! Goggles had steamed up and I can't see very well without my glasses anyway. I was shouting at the kayaker "Which way, which way! I can't see the start". She guided me back and I was soon out and trundling back to transition trying to get the wetsuit undone. The Bodyglide worked well. I applied it liberally round my neck , ankles and shins, and had no chafing round my neck and the suit came of quite easily once I was back at my bike. The 750k swim took me 21:13 which I was really pleased with!! |

Nice one Mr C. You need anti for spray for the goggles (failing that a bit of spit), overall good solid composed effort, first one done OK and plenty to build on.
