Amazing finish by the ladies. For most of the race, there was no impact. Even with 300m to go it seemed as if they had left it too late.

Yee looked stronger than Wilde on the last lap but I wondered if he would be able to close the gap. What a performance!

And cracking result for the W4x in the rowing!

Missed the tri and the rowing as I popped out to the shops when it looked like Yee was going to be 2nd. Listened to both on the radio and must have had a stupid grin on my face, brilliant commentary.

But how many last minute finishes are we going to have, I can’t stand too many more!

That rowing gold was unbelievable! More unbelievable than Yee's even. They weren't closing the gap until the last 250, then they were and it was so obvious that they'd left it too late because those boats don't change speed very easily, then a combination of a real finish by the British girls and either a "coast-over-the-line-because-we've-won-this" or a big blow-up because of the pressure they were under from the Dutch boat and it's Gold for Team GB by about a gnat's thingy on a really cold day!

We seriously could not believe it - we were near the beginning of the cycling running loop and when Yee came past on the last lap he was gaining a bit but still well behind. Then we saw people around us on their phones seeing the end and suddenly the New Zealanders behind us were quiet πŸ˜ƒ

Need to watch the end (and all of it tbh) again but was so incredible being here

Well done, Idris. You can say, "I was there when Alex Yee put on an unbelievable finish to win the Olympic title."

About This Thread

Maintained by Curly45
Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
