Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

They were kind of “pointing” and saying look at the poor lady at the back. The crowd were incredibly supportive though and the stand was still full and cheering for her to come in (3:40 something) ❤️

I watched bits of it and didn't get that impression but may have missed something. They said it wasn't about elite competition but about participation which is true as the athlete didn't qualify but was a selection by the country via the universality places system. They said it was good and could inspire.

I think the fact they kept coverage going till she finished which was over 80 mins after the winner shows they thought it was important to show every finisher.

90 minutes after the winner, and nearly an hour after the person in front of her. I thought the commentary was fine, both bbc and discovery+.

What are Olympic universality places and how many countries will be represented in Paris?

She ran 3:52. It was still faster than my marathon PB by five minutes, on a hot day and a nightmarishly hilly course, so fair play to her. (Granted, I was 52 when I got that PB).

Love the idea of leaving the marathon course open for runners in the evening.

Must have been amazing to participate in that.

About This Thread

Maintained by Curly45
Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
