I didn’t do Latin at school but my godmother was a classics teacher and so lent me some Latin books which had a family in Pompei. I vaguely remember Grumio who was maybe a cook

I didn't get the opportunity to do Latin at school but the books sound interesting.

We had Ecce Romani which featured a family with a daughter called Flavia.
The kids had Cambridge Latin which had a family with a mother called Metella who always seemed to be sitting in the atrium

HellsBells I think Flavia was Cornelia's friend 😊. She had a brother called Sextus I think. We also used the Ecce Romani books and my Latin teacher was one of the teachers who helped write them many years ago.

Cambridge Latin is the one set in Pompei, featuring Caecillius, Quintus and Metella. At the end the volcano erupts and Caecillius dies when a wall falls on him(?)

There’s a Dr Who episode where the Doctor ends up in Pompeii and meets them.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
