Nice one @philip_m_jones I do like that feature when it gives me positive news. I'd prefer it to base fastest on pace rather than time though since it can compare runs/rides which have as little as 86% route match & vary in distance from 9.79-10.12 for my daily bike commute making time a far less useful metric to rank them by. Mona Fartlek at lunch after a warm-up of 2K, 4x20"off 60", 1K. Blew up so the float paces became very pedestrian halfway through the 60" efforts. 4.7K in the 20' though which I aim to better next week. |

Haha a good way to broaden thread participation?! Nice to see a Mona, @Forrest Jooligan Birmingham Uni brining 70 or so students to the open day. Pretty relaxing trip as they can look after themselves once here. Talked my way into the gym and head out for a little trot round some very attractive uni accom and then a few strides on the track. Wavelights there - impressed by this. How common are they? |

Bugger! Pulled my right hamstring at the start of parkrun this morning. Had to stop twice in the first K. Ran through it after that to finish in 22:26 for 8th but limped the walk back. Only 6s slower than the same course in February!

I'm starting to get back bit by bit. A 22-mile week and 6.75 miles today in the Hambleden Valley: first half up in the woods and the roe deer are in small groups with fawns and when they see you coming, the adults run away and the young hide still in the bracken: you can hear them hiding and I try to see them without stopping to not spook them. Second half is back up the valley floor itself and there are a couple of trail races there today: "Midsummer Murder 2024" with a 10.4 mile "10 miler" and 14.3 mile "half". There is a 3-hour cut-off for both races and I am happy to see in the results they pulled people out who missed the cut-offs. If races publish cut-off times (and they should) then they need to be adhered to: it is not fun marshalling a race and waiting well beyond your expected finish time to be PC.

@stevieg, nice blog report. I looked up your chaser and see his surname is Gollop, surely he should change that to Gallop!

Yep that'd be better. And good to see you're hitting a bit more mileage. 6.5mile for me, then a 30min walk with the pal from yesterday. Same as yesterday really, wake up trudge around shuffling with this weird lower left back thing, but can warm into a run ok. It's sustainable for now, but if it's still like this by the end of the week will probs look at a physio, as I'm sure it's probably an easy chain tightness these experts could spot in 20mins. |
