Good to see some likes in there @Forrest Jooligan. Sorry to hear that, @Windsor Wool. Hasn’t realised the situation. The gym work could give enough brute strength to muscle out a fast 5k, @Foppotee. Apparently for mid pack at Bushy yesterday the funnel queue took longer than the run. Still amazing though to have 1000 parkruns there, I reckon. Agreed re the sweaty today, @stevieg. Hope the meds keep working @tipptopp. Cheltenham half race report here! fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=488158 |

Simon - world masters ? Fantastic experience. Wool - good to see you are able to still do a bit. Good to see jools SQ - great going on the BAC sessions and the HM today, I noted your result. Looking sub3 shape to me.......not sure I'll make Abo, done a few weeks since the food poisoning, I'm still pretty slow, and am still about 7 pounds down (although if i avoid the heavy weights I might be able to keep that off). I managed a slow 18m last weekend (av 8.4X) and trudged out 21m yday (av 8.3X) but I'm not sure it did me a lot of good and wiped out the rest of yday and had to take a day off today. So miles off the sort of fitness you currently have. |

All in all it was a bit odd at Bushy. The reports say about 6,000 runners and they had no way of dealing with quite so many. People were in a queue for well over an hour. The website still has no results up so I guess they are still processing them. parkrun HQ has been very keen on trying to eliminate spikes in numbers due to arbitrary numbers and inaugurals but there was definitely encouragement of this one. |

Ones existence is probably slightly empty to feel the need to turn up to a parkrun just because it was the 1000th occurrence. It reminds me of all the nonsense when the new millennium happened, some people started counting days/years at a completely arbitrary point, it makes no sense. I often go to bed early on New Year Eve out of spite :-). TT - Great to hear the new regimen appears to be having a positive impact. Well done on your wall. My original plan was for a sleeper wall and I have already done a smaller one. I am planning the Gabion wall instead because I think it will be longer-lasting and possibly cheaper. Clearly I haven't done it yet, I am pretty useless at getting started but once I do start I work pretty hard. I've got out of the habit of reading race reports as it seems clicking on a blog link is a step too far for me! Well done to any racers! I must try harder to read them. Just a 7.5 miler and a bike rider over my weekend, plus a gym session Saturday morning. I did pull with deadlifts and my back was very sore yesterday, still a bit sore today so going for a massage at lunch. SG - Yes, it's a specialist physio but I am not sure it's working. I had the first two sessions covered so it was only the travel I was paying for, hence I have tried to combine being in London with some other pursuit. Sub 17 5k is probably ambitious but that's where my head would be toeing the line. It'll probably be somewhere different at the finish line! |

Have a look at the race blogs, Reggie. One of the best features of this site is how race reports can be kept so separate and easy to find later. Obvs one of the worst is that you have to remember all the smileys which is probably why noone uses many beyond And the no edit thing is darn annoying too |
