there are 'menopause champions' at the surgery and they keep inviting me for menopause-related zoom sessions to discuss together symptoms and issues. None of which I have (so far... watch this space!), so I haven't joined. Then a friend invited me along to a 'purple circle' (group for peri/menopausal women) but said it was mostly about lamenting the loss of youth and fertility. Whereas I'd be wanting a ritual celebratory burning of mooncups and other menstrual paraphernalia I hope I won't need any more, and dream of becoming a wise crone one day...! I think I'll stick to cold water swimming, some running and walking and weight training, and every now and then peeling some clothes off when I get a bit warm (which is not the same as a proper hot flush, I haven't had one of those - yet?). Now, if I could just shift the extra weight that has crept on, that would be even better... but on the whole I'm feeling good.

period poverty is a thing indeed... we trialled offering period products in the cathedral (brought in by members of staff, mostly us at the welcome desk), and any supplies we put in the toilets disappeared within a few hours, especially the branded products - not so much the cheaper products, although they too would be gone by the end of the day. We just couldn't stock up quick enough, and of course there's no budget for that so we were bringing stuff in ourselves. We then decided to put a notice up instead, to come and ask at the desk if needed. No-one ever asked, and the notices disappeared all the time too, so now we're back to nothing... not sure what the right way forward is.

Weird that the notices would disappear. Sounds like someone didn't approve rather than actual need. We have them in some of the toilets at work (a university), and they seem to be sticking around for a while.

In typical bad timing …

I had my yearly HRT review at the drs 3 weeks ago and reported that everything was great.

Since then I’ve had a migraine (only the second since starting HRT a year ago). I’ve had ridiculous stomach cramps for the last couple of days (I’m currently 60 days since last bleed) And I’m getting sore down there after sex which I guess is a sign of vaginal dryness.

I would say 1 migraine isn’t enough for me to ask for stronger HRT dose (I was getting 16 days of migraines every month prior to HRT). I have no idea if HRT can help stomach cramps? And maybe virginal estrogen might be better than just stronger patches?

What do you guys think - back to the dr to discuss or pharmacy and give vaginal estrogen a try?

I have found vaginal oestrogen to be an absolute game-changer for frequency of urination and also sex. I get it on prescription, though. I didn't know you could get it from the pharmacy. I don't know whether mine is stronger.

I thought that I had read on here about getting it over the counter but it’s probably cheaper on prescription anyway.
