Your poor sister, halfpint I hope her cancer is also curable. This is a really good summary and has a section specific to women with breast cancer. thebms.org.uk There are prescribable non-hormonal treatments that can have some benefit for treating hot flushes in some women, though of course they all have side effects of their own. With breast cancer, the consensus is not to take the commonly available alternative or "herbal" preparations marketed for menopausal symptoms or a diet rich in phytoestrogens. There are also several non-hormonal lubricant preparations that can help with the discomfort of vaginal dryness. |

For the first time, one of my oestrogen patches came off pretty soon after I’d put it on. I found it stuck to the inside of my jeans. It was non recoverable!

Thank you so much @Velociraptor. I’ll pass it on. She’s just had it confirmed that she only needs radiotherapy in addition to the lumpectomy. There will be hormone therapy happening too - so suppressing oestrogen. Goodness knows how she’ll respond to all that.

One of my friends has just had a mastectomy in her early 40s, and is finding the side effects from oestrogen blockers quite hard, especially as she’d already started some HRT. Thankfully she doesnt need radio or chemo, partially due to deciding to have mastectomy rather than lumpectomy (there was more than one lump). |
