No, no and thrice no, Linds! 30 years of periods are enough.

I remember a few years ago reading some articles around nuns having higher incidences of breast, cervical and uterine cancers and this was linked to them having many more menstrual cycles. A quick search turned up this one: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/andrewbrown/2011/dec/09/nuns-on-the-pill-cancer-risks#:~:text=Modern%20studies%20of%20American%20nuns,protect%20them%20against%20this%20fate. |

@sallykate I never fared well with progesterone only pill, I was worried about that when I started HRT. I have utrogestan vaginal capsules, as opposed to an oral tablet. My GP said it's quite common to use it vaginally in europe for HRT, not so much in England, and she also suggested the side effects were fewer having it like this so I went for it.

Whereas my GP said ‘at 53 you shouldn’t still be having periods’, adjusted my progesterone to once per day and I’ve only had one breakthrough bleed since (touch wood!).

Linds: I saw that and my gut reaction was no, I like wearing white trousers worry-free. On the other hand, maybe I'd be a better runner again in which case it would be a difficult decision.

Sitting here with stomach cramps, I can't wait for them to bugger off.
