Our travel insurance wouldn't cover what we've paid up front either, but I'd already resigned myself to the possibility of not going and having to write off the sunk cost if eL Bee! couldn't get medical cover for a reasonable price. We've got a couple more weeks before the balance on the nice hotel in Valencia is due to be paid. I've also got entries for the Seville and Torremolinos half marathons late Jan/early Feb and am holding off on making any travel arrangements for now. |

Another update from Valencia today to say that they're having discussions and taking part in the rescue effort and they'll let us know next week whether the marathon is going ahead, and to continue training as if it is in the meantime.

Seville Marathon is offering refunds or deferrals to entrants from the Valencia region. I wonder if this will mean more places available for people on the waiting list, which I know includes a couple of Fetchies.

Popping in to say hello as I run and intend to run more marathons abroad. Currently have run 15+ or so in Europe, and love in particular the Spanish ones. Running my first Italian marathon this weekend - Verona, and then Malaga in December. Hoping over the next few years to run one in each of the major Western European countries, and hope to do Athens, maybe Warsaw and maybe one another in 2025. |

At the moment, I don't even have a valid passport. As they had the Authentic Athens Marathon at the weekend, I said to my wife that has got to go on my bucket list. For a smaller one, I wouldn't mind Malta. A work colleague was due to do the half there a few years ago but it got cancelled due to bad weather in the Mediterranean. |

Nice one OuchOuch. I’m looking at Cyprus and Vilnius (not done either before) and hopefully Seville if I get a spot. Vilnius is interesting as there’s a parkrun there now too, and I’m something of a parkrun tourist. It’s been on my mind to do different European countries too - I’ve so far done events in 10 different European countries outside of UK, but the likes of events in Italy, Ireland, Turkey, Denmark and Poland are all on ‘the list’ (it’s a long list) as I’ve not done marathons in those places yet. SurreyPhil I was in Malta that year for the marathon when it was cancelled. I did do the race the year before though and enjoyed it and it was my PB course for some time (it’s net downhill). I stayed in Sliema and caught the early bus out to the start, and then ran back to the finish in Sliema. |

Thanks Big_G. I've thought about using Sports Tours just to save me the aggro of having to find my way around.

Mr. K.
I ran Malta too in '18. I liked it too. Running Barbados Marathon next month. Which will be interesting esp after the 1M and 10Km. Not a lot of recovery after the 10Km - 13hrs beforehand 😀 |

Big_G - 10 is very impressive, I am on 4 (Germany, France, Portugal and Spain) so my list is a bit longer at the mo. I do love a maraoliday as a chance to go and visit places, otherwise you wouldn't visit and of course run. My first overseas one was Tenerife in 2015 to coincide with a heatwave, 33C, a proper scorcher! Verona is forecast for 5-9C! My favourite has been the Gran Canaria marathon which I've run 5 times, but seems 2023 could be the last edition. What would you recommend of those you've done? Mr.K - I would be really interested in how you find the Barbados marathon as its my wife's 60th and we are thinking of going in 2025 (she's a non-runner, so not sure how I've wangled that! - maybe thoughts in the 10K too). Malta sounds pretty good. |
