Glad to hear it. I love Berlin and hope I'll get back one day once (if) I'm running properly again.

As for me, I've always had a hankering to run Lanzarote, entered twice but failed to make it out there.

I've found a bargain bonanza fare from Stansted to Arrecife for Lanzarote this December, and although I can't possibly train enough to run it, and the flight timings don't work in my favour for that, I could possibly volunteer at the marathon, so I've stumped up £33.98 to Mr O'Leary to go out there. It's my birthday weekend as well, so it all looks good!

HQ is in a big sports centre so lots of changing and toilet facilities for before and after.Nice wide roads for the most part, only things I didn't like was running through an underground car park and a short steep climb up to a bridge, other than that it was flat.Elevation on strava was just on 400ft,but fetch says a lot more.I'd say the 400 was realistic. Lots of volunteers around,2nd lap was quieter after the HM finished but still OK crowd support. Small touches like a nice proper number and a decent goodie bag helped.

Fetch’s elevation algorithm always produces higher figures than Garmin or the orange site.

It is very sensitive to all ups and downs so I think the difference is that what other sites think is a 10m rise, Fetch will see as 6 up, 2 down and another 6 up etc

Berlin got absolutely slaughtered on reviews but mainly by American runners I will say.

People pissing & shitting in the pens (I didn’t see this) using the woods as toilets but that’s standard in Berlin, people starting on the wrong pens lying about anticipated times, lack of gels on the course (again they were there when I needed them). Giving out the wrong medals (the day before in-line skating medals the only difference the date - sone suggesting people took more than one or they didn’t order enough ? (They are mailing out the correct ones & having them custom engraved with times for all for free).

Personally I never saw any of this, the course was busy but not as bad as London in April.

Now recovering for Chicago !!

The start zone in Berling is quite big so it's not easy to find the toilets. And it would be good to have some toilets close to the starting zone, that would stop guys from pissing in the woods and at the side of the starting pens.

And because the first wave can only enter the start pen after the start of the wheelchair races 16 minutes earlier, it got a little messy with people crawling over fences.
That was my 2023 experience.

Everything else was great and I would love to go back one day.
