my last visit we spent a few days in Amsterdam then took the train to Rotterdam on the Saturday. Rotterdam hasn't a massive amount to see unless you can squeeze a game in at De Kuip but gonna guess like many big city marathons they arrange for the other big sporting eents to be away. Hertha Berlin play whilst we are running next Sunday & the Chicago Bears in 3 weeks are playing at Spurs !

We enjoyed the cube houses, food markets and water taxis quite a lot. Preferred it to Amsterdam in some ways as it’s less touristy, but we didn’t check out any sports.

The cube houses & the dock next to it with bars & restaurants was nice & loved the bridge.

Certainly less tourists than Amsterdam but Amsterdam has so much to do - must have visited 20 different Musseums & galleries over there over the years.

Girlfriend is Dutch so we go to lots of different places in Netherlands, and there are some lovely towns and cities there. Back on track with this thread though, I’m looking to do Leeuwarden Winter Marathon over the Xmas period, which looks very affordable (€25) and is also a single lap course for the marathon (200 competitors finished the marathon last year, so a small event, and they have other distances).

My club mate is going to Chicago and another one is doing Berlin on Sunday, both shooting for sub 3:30 from what I've heard. I'll be cheering from home as I'll run my comeback 10k this Sunday.

I had considered Frankfurt at the end of October as it's also pancake flat but given that I was unable to train for 2 months, I'm glad I didn't pursue it. My club has some guaranteed entries each year with a well-organised coach+hotel package deal so maybe 2025.

@tipsku Frankfurt is a great marathon and a finish like no other race I've ever done.
