"Going in..."?

That's a good few minutes earlier than they start shitting and pissing in Paris.

Berlin Marathon ballot is open until Nov 21st - €200 (without a T-Shirt)

Chicago opened Tuesday - $255 (with a T-shirt)

Have decided to do Chicago whatever happens as once I get it done in 2025 I then become a “Legacy” runner & can simply pop in a credit card number & enter without going via the ballot (5 finishes in 10 years - I have 5 finishes but my first was 2011).

If I get in Berlin will be a quick trip juts for the race. Love the race having been to the City 6 times I can take or leave it.

Found this site with German marathons results and further stats, thought it might interest some.

marathon-ergebnis.de

2003 saw 163 marathons (over ten finishers) in Germany. Many of them with tiny numbers, I suspect 100 Marathon Klubbers. Lots more with 100, give or take. Local races for local people, as you can also see the German/Auslander split. The peak in German marathons was pre-pandemic with 269 recorded in 2016.

50% of all marathon finishes in Germany are at Berlin. Made-up fact! (Although: roughly 1 Berlin = finishers in the next 19.)

marathon-ergebnis.de

Hannover looks a decent bet for a non-Berlin fast time, and you'll get away from the tourists. The most German bigger marathon though must be the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglauf. Where's that? You'll have to look it up ;-)

Nice, that is interesting. Wasn’t there a year, possibly pre-Covid, that there was a marathon available every day in UK? And a large number (don’t know how many) SE area alone!

Marathon guide is brilliant for US maras but has the most comprehensive European list I've ever seen marathonguide.com
This is the AIMS site distancerunning.co.uk
