I'm going to be in Lanzarote over the marathon weekend, but I'm having a year off marathons this year. Signed up to volunteer but I've heard nothing so might just sit in the sun drinking - it's my birthday weekend. Anyone else going to be there? |

I'd love to do Lanzarote one year before I hang up my trainers but always clashes with a very busy work weekend. Malaga is a great December marathon in Spain too. |

Believe it or not, this is the third time I've booked flights to attend the Lanzarote Marathon. I have never run it yet. First time was 2017. Something work related got in the way (can't remember what, but it was obviously urgent). Couldn't refund my flights. Second time was 2021. A global heath emergency got in the way. Couldn't refund my flights. This time I'm going and can't run. Bummer, but that's how it is. This time next year is a birthday ending in 0. I hope to be fit enough to run something overseas. |

I’ve a friend heading to Lanzarote for the marathon, he has done them all since 2008, bar Covid obviously.

I've run Bratislava - it's a hidden gem 2 laps starting & finishing in the old town crossing the UFO bridge & running around the edge of an equestrian centre - flat & fast (a few cobbles but not the big dangerous ones you get outside the Colloseum in Rome).

its not an expensive place to get to or indeed when you are there, I prefered it to Prague which I feel has become over commercialised. We took a 90 minute hydrofoil ride up the Danube to Vienna one afternoon & wandered around the Carpathian mountains to the North of the City. lovely castle overlooking the bridge & the river. Enjoy.

Loved Bratislava. It's sadly one I binned half way, but that was nothing to do with the course, and all to do with being undertrained and going to a trendy bar for extensive carbloading the night before.
