I went through the same company Sports tours last year paying around £3000 including flights.

Ballot entry is $205 (£460 GBP) so an additional £300 ?

This year after getting a ballot place I paid around £2500 & stayed at London house on the river opposite Trump.

The current running boom means places are only going one way - 2026 I become a legacy runner thankfully & can just put in a credit card number & enter.

In the end I went for a cheaper option - 3 nights at the Marriott for £2720 & should have juts enough airmiles & a companion voucher to cover the flights.

& people are moaning at £65 for the Windermere marathon & £52.50 for Milton Keynes without a T-shirt !! We are truly blessed with such cheap races here.

Foxy, $205 is around £160 I think, but I think that was just a typo in your post there. I paid a bit more as I got the cancellation protection. How can the tour company justify charging an extra £300 or whatever, just for the bib though?! It shows the demand is there I guess. Was it for this year’s race that London went up in price (I forget) - it’s still very, very good value in comparison, but I did see some complaints about that price rise as well.

£460 GBP is £300 more than £160 ($205 USD) that was what I was trying to say.

London is either £50 or £70 depending on which way you do the ballot - Charities charge runners £100 for the place alone (plus minimum sponsorship).

With the price increase for Chicago means I will probably skip NYC as gotta guess that will be even more expensive than Chicago (pleased not to get in the Berlin Ballot) I might now do Seattle or Philadelphia again in November as enjoyed both (& are easily walkable cities with good public transport).

OuchOuch
Just back from the Malaga marathon. Fantastic. Sunny, warm and no wind. A lovely course, well the first half anyway but an energising finish along the 500m or so finishing straight lined with spectators/ half marathon finishers. Probably the best post-race buzz I've experienced, lots of high fiving, cheering and clapping. The sun and inexpensive beers helped. They are already open for 2025, £49 and you can get there by air for £60 return.

Terrifying prices for US marathons but what really puts me off is the time investment and the actual disruption to your marathon running.

Raptors claws are coming to town
Really tempted to buy a Málaga entry for next year and double it with Valencia the previous weekend, even though I know I haven't been That Person for many years.

Another idea for you Raptor, there is a new Elche-Alicante marathon on weekend of 29/30th November, which gives you 2 weeks to recover for Malaga. Runners are bussed to the start in Elche from Alicante from 7 am on the Sunday.

I saw that, OuchOuch :) It was announced while I was in Alicante and just after I'd bought my entry ticket for Valencia, and it's a bit less convenient for my husband to chase me around the course with his camera.

Mr. K.
Barbados Marathon was interesting. Quite a few Brits

The Gold Challenge (3 races in 3 days - 1M, 10Km & Marathon) is certainly a challenge.

I`ll go back for sure.
