Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’m walking mine in 4 different loops, with company for 3 of them and one alone. I’m anticipating it taking a very long time but hopefully some comfort/food/tea breaks back at home will make it bearable!

One of my options is nine 2.6 mile laps plus out and back from home, to be like the elites, but I haven't trained for short laps. I took a look at the road surfaces for a slightly longer and prettier lap on my bike this morning. The advantage would be that I could ask family for support out on the course and they'd know where to look for me.

I have a loop. I *think* it’s 8 miles. I’m going to extend the first one, as I can’t see me wanting to extend the last one! WW is doing the middle loop with me, but I can go home (with a short detour) if necessary. I don’t want to stop unless I absolutely have to, as I’m unlikely to start again!

I wouldn't go within a country mile of the hourly run strategy and have nothing but respect for those who do.

When I ran my solo virtual London back in April I did a course so that I did go past home, but early on on the route so that I'd not be susceptible to ideas of dropping out and then used that to pick up the Camelbak at that point. Think it was about 8miles in as I knew I'd be fine going that far without sustenance (although less than ideal) but the benefits of not carrying litres of water for the full distance outweighed anything to be gained by sipping a few gulps in the early miles.

I’m only carrying about 750 ml. Although WW could bring me more if I need it, I guess.

I’m not confident I’ll finish but a few days ago I didn’t even think I’d start. We’ll see.
