Bit like ThorntonRunners story, my dad used to be really good at finding the best cafe's and butty vans. He was a technical sales rep and did a lot of driving, so would turn up in his suit and tie, order a fried egg butty and sit shoulder to shoulder with the lorry drivers telling fart jokes. Now he is retired, his mission is all the garden center cafe's in the area... |

If there are ones that are suitable for cycling stops, it'd be great if you could add them here: fetcheveryone.com/poi.php I have fond Bristol memories of the York Cafe in Clifton, and (moreso) the St Michaels Cafe in Kingsdown. The latter had fairly bad paintings of rockstars and celebrities all over the walls - but it was a great place to eat away a hangover. In my last proper job, we'd also go for a payday fry up at the bus station cafe in Bracknell. Nice memories! |

Four cafes in our touristy national park village but all more likely to be serving avocado toast than fried egg butty I reckon.

The Redbeck Motel, S of Wakefield on the Donny road. 24-hours/365 days a year. The Breakfast Special marked the high point of many an evening trawling the fleshpots of the Merrie Citie! The term, motel, was stretched to its limits: truckers et al. occupied sleeping 'pods' reminiscent of mortuary scenes from 'Silent Witness'. |

There's a fantastic caff round the corner from CrossGates parkrun in Leeds. Spam and fried egg butty, anyone?

I used to live just round the corner from the York Cafe. The most bizarre experience I had was coming round the corner to several ambulances and a car on its side outside it plus dozens of people. A scene of holby city was being filmed there |

My parents always told me that if you're on a long journey, keep an eye out for where all the vans and HGVs are parked. Their drivers will always stop off at the best places along a motorway or A-road.

Used to like the clock tower cafe in Brighton around the turn of the century
