Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

That gate gap looks no narrower than the width of the path for the entire route on some out and back parkruns.

Maybe they could have omitted the word "narrow" and saved us the hassle. :)

An out an back route is only going to have people passing in two directions though and you'd normally have good visibility of the people coming towards you, whilst this will have people being lapped passing someone else who is being lapped coming the other way and the people being lapped won't know that they are until it happens. The blind 90 degree turns into a narrower path also won't help.

Not saying it wont work, I just see potential for issues. Especially on week one as they have given 2 week notice of their first run. I'm also a bit excessively sensitive to things like that on a course design as I try to navigate my way round parkruns pushing a buggy and course furniture can be an issue.

Hazelwood has a gate between 2 fields with bi-directional runners. It worked fine as far as I can remember.

Perhaps some sort of politeness umpire would cure the problem?

Do bi-directional runners have their own category yet?

To be honest, given its location and size I cannot see Street ever having massive numbers, so reckon the gateway won't be a real issue.

Haverhill had a bi-directional bridge (two planks over a ditch) on a complex multi-lapper, didn't cause any problems due to the small numbers of runners. The council has now forked out for a new bridge (some more planks...)

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
