Yes, I see... I was mixing up "entry" and "access".... free entry during parkrun, which gives you full access. I can see this event being *very* popular with "spectators" on Saturdays

Good grief, a family could save close to a hundred quid by running around 5K. It's like being paid to run :-)

Free entry, but food and drink is so expensive there. Maybe they are hopeful of not to many actual tourists and people using the cafe?

For local runners who are then coming to Eden regularly it may well encourage them to get an annual pass...

^^^ what Tim/Lady said - when you go if you gift aid the entry you get free entry pass for a year, so they must be making money via other things than entry fee?

Normanby Hall is 47 mins drive (according to Google maps) from my sister's house so we might do that one when we are down there. We are planning Goole on our next visit as it is closer.

I suspect Eden will be very much like a lot of other parkruns in similar situations. As an example, Lanhydrock is a National Trust property and you can do the parkrun for free at 9am and it goes around the grounds which you would normally pay to enter but at the end they tidy up and exit. I think it is a good idea and would hate to see it closed due to people taking advantage and do a parkrun and hang around afterwards for free entry.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.
