I know Oswestry has been on the grapevine list for a while - this was because there is/was a parkrunner on the town council, who proposed they should set up a parkrun in Cae Glas park in the town (which is too small, IMO). It was approved and they put feelers out for a core team, but that's the last I heard; presumably no one came forward or they couldn't figure out a suitable course.

However, I've just spotted this on the news page of nearby Shrewsbury parkrun (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/shrewsbury/news/2017/10/11/new-parkrun-needs-your-support/) - don't know if it's anything to do with the original proposal or something completely new: "Last night Susan snd I attended a meeting at the British Ironworks in Oswestry [actually a couple of miles down the road to the east], where there could be a potential new parkrun. It was interesting witnessing the early stages of a birth of a new local parkrun. It felt quite strange to sit there and remember how I felt over 4 years ago.
They are looking for members of the core team to assist Ellen in getting the event up and running (pardon the pun).
Please contact them at this email address if you are intestested -
parkrunforoswestry@gmail.com"

My wife and I met at school in Oswestry 25 years ago and would be all over this if we lived in the area, but Bristol's a bit of a commute! Drop them a line if you can help and we'll come and visit you once it's set up! ;)

That link should be parkrun.org.uk --- Fetch's URL routine inadvertently snaffled my closing bracket on the last post

I've heard that Wythall parkrun won't be coming back, rather unfortunately.

I wonder whether that will go down in history as the only parkrun to be killed by the numbers turning up for the inaugural?

Thornbury also starting on 18th November, and about the same distance from Little Stoke in the other direction as Eastville.

Very good planning to schedule them both for the same day and will prevent either being overrun.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
