Driven through Harrogate today. There still a lot of roadworks going on, but I noticed they've resurfaced Ripon Road and Parliament Street (on the finish run-in), and that the traffic islands look like they are removable. It's going to be an exciting finish.

We're trying to make plans for a tour trip. Probably like most folk looking to see start and finish.
Any advice for out of towners

Gut feeling is that to get anywhere near the finish you will need to be there very early and doing both might be unrealistic. Leeds to harrogate is easy normally but with the crowds may be less so! If you do it by bike there is more chance and if you're ok with being a couple of km out from the finish again you stand more chance of seeing something.
There are various places advertising parking on the route but if you can't get there before the roads close that doesn't help!
Basically I would say park off route and ride or walk in. I know back roads for stage 1 if you need local knowledge. The camping round addingham gets you near the route both days.
Tour maker orientation event tomorrow so I may know more after that. InterestinglyCav was in harrogate yesterday so I wonder if they have a special guest lined up for us.

They are putting on extra trains between Leeds and Harrogate but advising no bikes on trains. I hope to attempt to cycle in having been at Harewood, I'm expecting a steady stream of bikes in that direction!
Yellow bikes starting to appear. There's one at the traffic lights at Harewood, and two (children's ones) above a shop in Harrogate.

Has anyone else seen the 'penny-farthing' racing on the beeb this morning? Followed by an article about penny-farthing polo.

Yellow bikes - that explains why I saw a truck load of these from the top deck of my bus the other day, all set for decorating the route - nice!

Interesting tweet by Chris Froome this evening. I wonder who the 'three' are!
