I'm a tour spectator in sunny NW Essex. It goes virtually past our old house, so am off to stay with friends and watch it. Might cycle the Cambridge to London route the day before too

Just had official confirmation that the media centre for the Grand Depart is in the car park next to my office. I can see it from my desk (well, I would if it had actually been erected - they're using temporary marquees etc) |

That sounds good, where is the actual start? The Headrow? Trying to plan visits to all three UK stages. Stage one is easy for Leeds/Harrogate. It will be a bit of a trek down to Chelmsford, but it seems a shame to not watch it go past the in-laws house. Not sure where to watch stage 2 though. I feel like I should cycle out to one of the hills, but I imagine that it will be crowded and I wont be early. Any good ideas? I can just watch them fly past Wetherby again, but that seems a little lacking in excitement. |

The start is outside the Town Hall. Or at least that's what the banner on the Town Hall says Media Centre is at Wellington Place. mepc.com On the picture I work in the building in the foreground, and my window is on the corner of the building that directly overlooks the marquees... We are doing all three stages - Tourmaking at both or one of the first two but then watching the third stage. No idea where yet as it partly depends what time we're likely to get away on the Sunday. People from club were talking about watching stage 2 on Blubberhouses. Not one of the real honeypot climbs so possibly a bit quieter. |

(although having said the start is at the Town Hall, that's the fake start. The actual start of racing is around Harewood House)

Blubberhouses would be good actually, near enough to get to, potential for a bit of excitement, but not likely to attract the huge crowds. My plan for stage one is to watch them roll out and then get to Harrogate for the finish. I know I am unlikely to get anywhere near the line, but at least we will get a bit of the atmosphere. |

My plan for the first stage is not too dissimilar to yours Johnny... I will probably watch them roll past my parents house in Alwoodley, then pop across to Horsforth to catch the train to the finish in Harrogate.

Similar, I'm close to Harewood and might cycle up for the proper start, then make my way to Harrogate, somehow, for some of the finish atmosphere. As for day 2, not sure yet, would be nice to see a climb but the logistics of getting anywhere near scare me! |

Sounds as if the brilliant and unique idea that I had is exactly what everyone else will be doing Will probably have a gaggle of wee-raptors in tow, so I suspect we'll end up plonking ourselves on a quiet part of the route on the first two days rather than dashing around on our bikes. |
