Makes a note of that loop for future day's out reference - could be done with the use of the 77 bus :)

IF I get to escape on the 21st, Ambleside to Coniston is the logistically easiest bit for me to do solo but I'm a bit stuck for ideas of what other bit to do.
Wondering if just a lovely long day out anywhere that is logistically easy would be just as beneficial as actually trying to recce the route?

Rosehip - yes. I found my most beneficial sessions before I first did it actually came from not being on the route. We did harder ascents so that when I was on the route the ascents didn’t feel so bad 🤣🤣

that's my way of thinking - I haven't been up a proper hill since last September.

Next Sunday (20th) I'm hoping to run from Braithwaite to Buttermere (visiting a few summits (nothing new for me to bag in that area :( )) then back via the UTLD100 route.

I thought about running from Howtown to Troutbeck and getting the bus back to Pooley Bridge. But the timing of the earliest steamer and 2nd last bus means there'd be no getting lost time.

Nice one, Rosehip. That bloody descent from Gatesgarth is a right bastard. And you'd (I'd) benefit from going that way for a recce.

6 weeks to go, it's getting close now. It's almost getting to the stage where you just want to get going.

I really need to get ordering the kit I don't have yet and a new race vest. Looking for at least a 15l, I have a 12 but felt everything was stuffed in and not easily accessible. My main concern is a couple of the ones I've seen only have 1 water bottle. Might make fluids a bit tight in the longer sections if it's a got day.

I have the same issue with fluids. My favourite rucksack is so out of date I can't get new bottles.
