Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I do my Weds weights session on race week, but not my Friday one. However, I wouldn't introduce anything new, or any great weight increase, in the Weds one. And I have been lifting weights for just over 3 years now.

Yikes! Have been very remiss and not done a serious weights session for quite a while. 21st of Feb according to my Fetch log - and that was only ten minutes.

Am not complete immoveable lard bucket as I am doing at least three, usually four, full dance classes a week and the main three involve jumping which qualifies here (plyometric). However I DO need to somehow fit resistance sessions in.

geordiegirl enthused and linked Caroline Girvan's 'Iron' workout series on You Tube on the Fab Fighters thread. Am not averse to fighting flab, hence looking in there. So THANK YOU geordiegirl for pointing me towards a very useful workout for today. I did day 2 -upper body - as all the dancing (and still some sprinting) means my lower body gets pretty good workouts most of the time.

I still need to DO lower body stuff but need to be careful not to overdevelop quads at expense of hammies and adductors (for instance) Caroline has rather mighty body builders/cyclists quads.

I appreciate there are many other worthy YouTube progs I could follow - I do like something to follow. Rosehip prefers this lady:

who also looks good.

Anyone on here have a free online prog they use? Besides the one for menopausal women we have linked in the side bar.

I've used some of the workouts from the Nuffield Health website, Sharkie. They're not all weight training sessions but I've used three 'Body Pump', numbers 15 and 31 on the list in this link....

I've just noticed that 3 and 21 are dumbbell workouts so I might give them a try.

I hate videos and would feel really self-conscious watching them in the gym. Does anyone have a written-out programme for me to follow? :)

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
