Went to Ultimate Strongman Team Competition in Stoke at the weekend. Those guys are solid! Terry Holland was looking awesome - much leaner than when he was at our gym in March.

A great day out for everyone. Part of my enjoyment of the day was hearing all the little kids get so excited.
Lifting has continued to go well here in prep for my first comp in August. Comp deadlift weight feels pretty light now! Squats - well that's another matter ;)
Hope everyone is enjoying getting stronger

I'm struggling a bit with the deadlifts at the mo - back was very used/stiff after last week's session, as I could feel my lower back rounding a bit when I was getting tired. Not 'painful', just stiff. Happened again today, but not as bad, but finished at 1 set of 3 reps at 70kg, before going back down to 50kg (as felt back struggle a wee bit). Is this something that will ease as I get stronger/more able to keep my form?

I had trouble with upper back/ shoulders which limited my progression with deadlift for a wee while - we took down the weight and did a bit more technique work and did more reps at lower weight. For me something clicked eventually.

Not managed to get a PT session booked for last week or this week - not keen on deadlifting in the commercial gum as I usually use a trap bar. I have went to 2 fat burn/ circuit style classes for the first time in years and enjoyed them. Will try and do some walking lunges and reverse lunges with dumbells to get the legs working. It's quite nice in a way to mix the training up now I've no targets to aim for!

Finally managed the floor to overhead press weight for my comp! Couldn't do it last week so very pleased indeed.
PB on deadlift doubles as well - although I wasn't aware that my coach had snuck the additional 2.5kg on while I was at the loo!

Well done Duracell :-) My old PT used to sneak weights on too. And put up the speed/gradient on the treadie or resistance on the bike when she thought I wasn't looking.

Well done! I'm not sure I'd be able to do one floor to overhead press! I did glute raises with the big 20kg bar last PT session - when I came back from doing another exercise, PT had 'snuck' on the 10kg plates to make it 40kg glute raises!

I have backed off lifting for now whilst I work on my movement range to fix my truly terrible butt wink! Did a PT session today though and we focussed on lats and that was tough! We finished with slam ball... Blimey they hurt! Dropped the weight from 8kg to the 6 but did 3 X 30 reps as hard and fast as I could manage. The last set were purgatory!
