Jenelopy If you'd like online patterns that require sticking bits of A4 together, then Waves & Wild are good (previously Made by Jack's Mum), as are Patterns for Pirates. There doesn't seem to be a site like Ravelry that pulls all designers together so that you can choose your favourite unfortunately.

Thanks for all the site suggestions - daughter's been asking me to make various things and it's good to have plenty to choose from.

Now that my local fabric shop has closed down I don't have anywhere to go and physically browse through pattern books, which is my preferred option.

Finding patterns for sewing can be really tricky if you’re looking for something specific! The traditional pattern companies have so many patterns online it takes ages to find the right one, and it’s not the same as being able to have a read of the back!

I'm looking for a fully-lined jacket with a shawl collar, having realised that the pattern I have is only half-lined - can't find one anywhere from the bigger brands.

Thank you HB - I did look at that one but wasn't sure it was right for my fabric, which is a fairly ordinary grey corduroy. There's a lot I like about it!

I've cut out Vogue 9339 minerva.com in boiled wool meanwhile.

And if I had more faith in my ability to make notched collars so that they were identical on the left and right I'd have much more choice of jacket patterns!

Thanks all for the links - very helpful. That will keep me busy for some time...

On my list (before I get distracted by all the exciting things I *could* sew):
- lined curtains
- oven gloves
- big coaster / pot stand
- apron
- laundry bag / basket

And so far I've made one pair of curtains (and there was a gap of 4 months between the two halves):

These used a printed blackout fabric, so were unlined.
