Another from by Step-by-Step book:

I was expecting it to be bigger, from the picture, but I guess I should have realised it wouldn't be huge, considering it's just two 50g balls of yarn. So, small, but I'm still pleased with it.

I feel like it will stretch quite a bit.
Or is this already post blocking?

Blocking is when you soak it in water (preferably with something like woolite or eucalan to wash and condition it, and make it smell nice) then pin it out to dry in the shape you want it to be. A lot of people use the big foam jigsaw tiles that you get for making play surfaces for babies to pin the thing yo, or if you have a spare bed that can also work. It works best with real wool, but also helps open up stitches in other fibres in my experience.

After (or post) blocking things often look quite a lot bigger. I don't think I have any good before and after pics to demonstrate it, but I'm sure there will be a load of videos on youtubes. I'll have a look.

There's a whole big long description about it here, with some before and after type pictures

Ooh, that sounds interesting, I may give it a try! All I've done so far is shove lots of things in it. It takes a surprising amount of stuff.

For acrylic yarn I pin it into shape then hover a steaming iron over it (so it just gets the steam and isn’t touched by the iron). It works wonders on wonky squares.
