The first toy I ever made (I think I was about 8) was from fleece; I used to make a lot of rag dolls from jersey too as a kid.

I’m in the middle of making a cover for a foam window seat. It’s been a make-it-up as I go .. but is looking promising.

My question.. I’ve avoided long zips and have three pieces of Velcro to attach to make the closure. Any does and don’t on sewing Velcro to fabric? I hoping a standard machine needle will be ok. Any advice appreciated.

I’ve started on my Scheepjes CAL. It’s pretty complex crochet but there are excellent video tutorial on YouTube to help with the tricky rounds-especially ‘exactly which stitch do they mean?’ It looks lovely already and is very clever, I’m up to round 15 and it’s gone from 6 sided to a circle and now it’s a square!
Oh, and I just finished D2’s blanket the night before she went to uni :-)

I've sewn Velcro onto furnishing fabric with a ball-point machine needle and don't recall any problems.

FO- uni blanket for youngest ravel.me

WIP Scheepjes d’Histoire Naturelle CAL, part 1 completed. The colours are lovely and not very well represented in the pictures. I was wary about using the black but it’s quite sparing and helps define the other colours. ravel.me

That looks great -far beyond my ability. I am looking forward to seeing it progress.
