It now takes up less room in the memory box... I'm giving them ball bands for the other knits so they know how to care for them. ;-)

May I pick your collective brains please? I am knitting socks, toe-up, using 60 stitches, and have just reached the point where I need to turn the heel. I've purchased the instructions for the FishLipsKiss turn, and have access to the videos, but I can't see how many stitches to use for the heel. The text 'suggests' 33%, but the basic sock pattern I've used to date uses 50%. Does anyone know how many stitches I should use for the heel?

Not a clue Helegant but someone will. My sister had some multipurpose nametapes made which said 'machine wash by hand' which she could then sew on with the relevant end turned under!

I hate it when that happens...re the shrinkage. Sorry Helegant, I can't help you re the heel...most of my sock patterns have used half the stitches to turn the heel too.

You want to use half the stitches Helegant, ie the stitches for the sole of the sock. *but* in the fish lips kiss heel pattern you are doing a short-row heel and the 33% of stitches shows you the point that you stop shortening the rows and start increasing them again. Start with all the sole stitches on one needle and knitting backwards and forwards follow the instructions for the heel, as you're knitting it you find you knit one less stitch each row. Once you are only knitting on the middle third of the stitches that is the point at which you are turning the heel and then start including the stitches you've not been knitting in one-at-a-time again.

Helegant- whoops about the felted jumper- Its still very lovely and even more cute. - I would find a bear to wear it.

Drell- love the Mobius- I find them fascinating to knit.

It will be simple knittery here- I'm laid low with a cold that has invaded my sinuses so rather painful:-(

OK been watching videos on double knitting which looks great for Gnome's scarf but I want 1 colour not 2. How do I know which bit of yarn to knit and which to purl?

I may be on my 4th pair of socks but still making mistakes every now and then and not brave enough to start a pattern so well done Helen!
