My brother-in-law did an aptitude test as a young man. He was already working for BP in marketing, but as a result of the test (two days and £ hundreds even 35 years ago) he changed his profession and has risen to the very top of it.

And it seems to have kept him happy all these years.

What The Actual Fleecy
I'm not sure what an aptitude test is but I did some sort of careers questionnaire about 10 years ago and it said I would be a good journalist, scientist, personal trainer, social worker or nutritionist. All quite spot on I reckon, except maybe the social worker. I did it through the local careers service, not sure if they still do this.

I didn't know that there was a fetch linked group, I've just requested to join.

I'm OK in my job, I do get stressful days as I'm in sales and sometimes think I need to retrain, I suppose its a confidence thing to start a new career..

Apparently though spending one's life as a soldier is perfect preparatory training for becoming a teacher.

So Mr Gove believes. Of course, when he and I were at school, the oldest staff were ex WW2 soldiers. And it strikes me now for the first time that our headmaster was ex-Army (Pay Corps by reputation), and all the military staff were Army.

Mr Chips was no doubt based on an old military duffer, and a lot of the staff at my early boarding school were military. Certainly doesn't make it right though!

I had a second interview yesterday for the maternity cover role I originally interviewed for back in June. I think it went ok, I talked a lot, but it had to be cut short as the interviewees had a meeting with the CEO. They've decided there will be one final stage, a chat with the CEO. I should hear today whether I've made it through to the final stage, fingers crossed!

It sounds a really interesting role and one I could get my teeth into. There's also potential for it to become permanent as they've said they want to extend the communications department.

So today I am mainly watching my phone, willing it to ring!

Result! I'm through to the final stage and I'm the only one! Should hear when I'll be meeting the CEO by the end of the week. My heart was pounding when I took the call, I've got rather a lot invested in this role and not just a new bike
