Well done, Wobbly - is it just you at this stage, or is the CEO talking to a couple of people?

As for me, I’ve got a probable contract extension for another six months, and bosses repeatedly asking if I’ll apply for the permanent job if it’s opened to external candidates (which is flattering but very much a moot point, unless bosses get permission to invite applications from non-employees).
That said, it’s a lot better than January when I had no job, no interviews coming up and our savings dwindling rapidly. What’s the secular version of counting your blessings?

Doogs - glass half full?
That's all good news, hope they get the go ahead to interview externals!

That’ll do – still haven’t worked out what the hell I want to do long-term but in the midst of a public-sector decimation*, it’s good to have a bit of stability until a less twattish government arrives…
*Actually probably worse than a decimation – my area’s lost more like a third of its staff than a tenth…

*jono*
erm, counting your blessings
I had to recently advertise for a postion - I had 125 cv's sent in, interviewed 7 and then and went and recruited a bloke from a place the company used to own and run.
and this is prttey low end stuff - my speciality - so I should imagine the issues are magnified in more professional roles.
Problems with CV's - you can tell they have been written by someone else, vocational qualifications, experience (which fair enough, you can work with someone and build on the experience)
*I still refuse to sign up to the Link thingy even if it has got a Fetch section*

Not sure if I'm going about this the right way. 4 of us have been told that 1 of us will be made redundant next Tuesday. The other 3 seem to be carrying on working - I'm Fetching!!!

“Honour thy error as a hidden intention.” Maybe it’s your subconscious telling you that getting the short straw might be a good thing?

I've just introduced myself over on the LinkedIn group, having just spotted this thread at the end of my lunch hour which has now inadvertently been extended in the process - well, I guess my employer has to allow me a bit of time for career development stuff!

(loving the title of the Group though wondering what my existing LinkedIn connections will be thinking when it pops up in their news feeds!)
