Wobbling, I meant the sort of feedback that you might get after a mock interview. I dont know if you can get that for free but it would be worth paying for if you can afford it. The sort of feedback that you get from employers after an unsuccessful application is anodyne waffle.

SoPM - I've got a final interview on 16 July. If that doesn't go well, I'll look into the mock interview thing, there's something like that offered at our local community house. That and CV feedback might be useful too.

We do mock interviews for all our trainees as they approach the end. A lot of them have already had interviews, and been told that they were good, but that someone else was better. We often find that they aren't very good, even though we know they would be good for the job. I would agree with Soapy about this. Not sure where you would go to get a mock interview though. There are specific courses available to us, but maybe not for other professions? |

I'm looking to get a better job in the near future. I get annoyed when recruiters only want a graduate (no working background) and ignore my application despite numerous years' experience (matching the personal and job specs).

Just an idea, really, but I've created a discussion on the Fetch LinkedIn group, so people who are looking for work can say so, and people can look at their LinkedIn profiles, etc... linkedin.com |

My company is explanding at the moment so jobs in all areas come up quite regularly. They're all advertised on the website bareminerals.co.uk and then if you search international careers the UK & Ireland stuff will come up. Wobbling - we've had quite a shift round in PR & Communications so it's worth checking back regularly if you're interested in working within the beauty industry (PR etc. are based in Soho) |

My son is going to start looking for a proper job after two years in oddbodsman jobs (is that the word I want?). He's got a degree in IT which is more a demonstration of bloody-mindedness than aptitude and he would in everyone's opinion except his own make a fine primary school teacher. We want him to do an aptitude assessment and have commissioned him to find one and persuade us to pay for it. Anyone got any thoughts about aptitude tests? |

Aptitude tests are a waste of everyone's time. I had to do one when I went for a role at the Bank of England, and I can assure you that two hours of drawing squiggly lines on a page and not going outside of the little boxes provided cannot tell you whether or not I will be any good at pulling your computer apart and putting it back together again when you break it.

PS, Primary teacher v's IT industry is a no brainer, unless of course he wants to spend his entire life working his arse off for next to no reward as a teacher.
