2 x 12 minutes at r20 (UT1/ Tempo pace) this morning to blow out the cobwebs. It felt fine while I was going but it's left my legs pretty heavy afterwards.

Anyone else found the urge to erg yet?

Have just climbed off the machine. Four 10-minute stroke ladders of 4-3-2-1 minutes at 20-22-24-26 spm. Was intending to do five but the legs were a little heavy after a strenuous run yesterday. With the warmup about 10k so not too hard and not too far.

Nice session, that. I haven't put any stroke ladders on the plan for a while. I might need to remedy that soon.

I usually do them as 15-min ladders, either starting at 18spm or 20 spm depending on how frisky I'm feeling. Rests were 1 minute today but with the 15s I take 2 minutes. I like stroke ladders, the workouts just fly by.

I used to do 4-3-2-1 minute ladders at 18-20-22-24 but with no rest repeating 4 or 5 times. That always got the blood pumping.

I'd like to, but unfortunately the gym decided to shut for a week. So, I'm stress testing the running injury that pushed me to row in the first place. Fingers crossed.

cheers @Nellers I'm quite enjoying the erg (think I'm about 2 months in) and can see some improvement. I'll definitely keep it going even when (!?) my injury clears up

I’m very much of the opinion (unproven in my case!) that variety is good for preventing injury, or at least preventing diving injury risk. Running, rowing, cycling, swimming, along with a bit of strength training, should avoid the overuse injuries and give a broader fitness.

I’ll tell you if it works out like that as long as my back and Achilles behave over the next few months!😉

Diving? How did autocorrect get to that?
