Yep. Oranj. Bloody nightmare After the conversation I went back and audited my log book As far as I can see going back just over a year I’ve logged approx 70,000 metres that are duplicated !! 😱 I’ve got rid of 40,000 current history and rowed about 20km in the gym over the last 3 days that have just stayed on the machines unrecorded. I usually cycle in the gym 5 times a week as a warm up but have switched to 2k on the erg ( as IF I didn’t sit on the damn thing enough 🤣! ) At 10km a week I think my conscience will feel fine by the end of January! Thank god I don’t row that many intervals. |

Back at it with 3-min intervals and 2-min recoveries this morning. Been off for a few days while rellies visited. I had forgotten just how much a 2-year-old dictates the pace and activities of all within range

Has anyone watched any of the Edge Rowing Coaching videos on YouTube yet? It's run by a guy called Jack Burns, former GB squad rower, and he's a bit proponent of polarised training in rowing. Lots of UT2, a little UT1, and then what he describes as HIT (High Intensity Training) once or at most twice a week, depending how many times you're training in the first place. Anyway, coincidentally I've been getting weird readings from my HRV app over the last few days which has then been telling me to limit intensity in my training so I've actually been following the Edge advice by default. Don't know if it will work for me long term but it's making me feel better about keeping things at an easier pace for now. |

I've been telling YouTube to pick a RowAlong workout at random for me. Today was 60 minutes nonstop with varying stroke rates, incorporating 30-sec sprints and 10-minute tempo intervals at 26 spm. A satisfyingly knackering session but not a killer. Happy!

Odd how when your starting position is CBA and you have to force yourself onto the erg, it turns out to be a really good sesh. 5 x 8 minutes with 3-min rests this morning, first 4 mins at 2k+12ish and then second 4 at 2k+7-9ish, maintaining 24 spm throughout. Wasn't looking forward to it but glad I did it now

Good work Muttley. It is odd when that happens, I wonder if low expectations stops early overenthusiasm

Well done, Muttley. Yep, been there done......well, not that session but the same principle. Psychology is fascinating and if I could work out how to maintain my motivation for anything consistently long-term I'd bottle the secret and be a millionaire. Meanwhile back in the real world...... binned off my intervals this morning as CBA. Should have time to slot them in this evening as I'm finishing work a bit early. 10 x 45 seconds with 90 sec rests should shake off any cobwebs. |

So did you do them in the end Nellers, or did the attack of CBA win the day?
