Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ah, congrats indeed to Craggy ... and to his future missus, who at 1:30-ish for a half marathon is a seriously speedy lady! Can he keep up with her, I wonder?

Thank you Muttley! She was really pleased with finishing 3rd lady and yes she's very speedy especially for a 51 year old, although saying that the ladies winner ran 1:21 and she's aged 58 😯
No I definitely can't keep up with her these days, I couldn't even run the final 160m with her after I proposed as my knee locked up after about 30m 🤣

Blimey, they are seriously good times for any runner, let alone V50 females. As a V60 male I'm pretty chuffed when I finish ahead of the first V70 ... doesn't often happen though. But I did beat the first V75 in my most recent outing :-)

My (rowing) pales away compared to that, so I'll just pop this here, and feel smug at getting the pacing nailed for once. :-)

Haha Muttley, we always look forward to moving into a new age group - until you realise all the fast boys are already there 🤣

Thanks Andy!
That's a strong row and really well paced, well done! I had to go and dig my own pb out as I thought it was very similar, here's mine from 2019... you beat me by 3m!

Wow! An amazing negative split there Craggy. Love those descending splits. I'm so glad that I kept my resolve to not grab a drink at all during the hour, which undoubtedly gave me at least an extra 3 metres.

I'll have to be braver and try it again at at a higher stroke rate sometime - maybe r22 was too conservative (maybe just sensible for where I'm at?) It's only the third 60 minute row that I've made myself commit to (January's was simply to do the distance - my longest at the time (!) - and February's was to get over 15k).

Speaking of where I'm at, I'll claim bonus points for the sheep and chickens. So glad I was doing that outside, with a bit of a breeze, but was still too warm for most of the hour.

I don't blame you for going without water Andy, it's very difficult to keep the pace up whilst drinking, I bet you was gagging for water by the end though!

Being short and lightweight I can't create the power of bigger guys so I have to rate a bit higher (the last 3k of my half marathon pb was r31, having started out at r24) but yes I think there's more to come from you with a slightly higher rate.

That's a beautiful view, beats the brick wall at the end of my patio 🤣

Well, my calf blew up yesterday while out for a bimble. Gah. That probably means at least a week or two of no running. But this is why I have the erg ...

That's bad luck Muttley, wishing you a speedy recovery! Hopefully you can still row, if so we'll probably see you at the top of the rowing League by the end of May 👌
