Think I'll pop my head over the parapet as well. I was using my WaterRower through lockdown having spent money a) to upgrade the computer and b) fix the leaking tank. It started leaking again and I sealed it up again but then the next time it was stood upright, the bloody thing burst, flooding the living room!
I decided against throwing more good money after bad and I bought a Concept 2. It arrived a week before my foot operation so - great timing, me!
Now the dressings are off, I'm restarting cautiously and have kicked off with following the RowAlong 2K plan.

Well done on the threshold session Nellers, those 1500s are nasty!
Stiltonman, I upgraded from PM3 to PM5 two years ago, purely because I like to row on the patio even in the winter, so the backlight on the PM5 was a nice upgrade, as was the Bluetooth. It cost me £145 delivered and I sold my PM3 on eBay for £90 so it wasn't a big outlay really.
Good investment in yourself McGoohan! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Welcome to you both btw

I only upgraded my PM3 (on a model C bought in 2003) when it stopped working, but I'm enjoying the wireless connectivity of the PM5.
Ambitions to start rowing again are put on hold due to (self-diagnosed) tennis elbow in my left arm - it's calming down so fingers crossed I'll be back on it before too long.

Morning all, and welcome to Stilton and McG.
When I was thinking of buying an erg I did look at the WaterRower but decided I didn't like the potential faff of dealing with a water tank. Might have been a good call!
My machine (bought in 2007) still has the PM3. I do use hr but only on steady state sessions, through a chest strap and keeping an eye on the garmin on my wrist.
Anyhoo, an hour at UT2 just now. A bit warm in the lounge even with the doors wide open, so this was a sweaty sweaty one.

Yep, the WaterRow was more trouble than it was worth. Even if it didn't leak the lack of an easy way to change the drag factor was a pain. In their blurb/instructions WaterRow say, 'if you need more resistance just row harder or add more water to the tank'. Great, thanks for that.

^ Heh. Meaning no disrespect to you McG but I got the impression that the WaterRower was more an attractive piece of furniture on which one could work up a gentle glow, while the C2 was meant for yer proper serious sweatfest workout.

That *may* have been a factor in the original WaterRower purchase decision and the reason I could keep it in the living room
(NB - I bought it in about 2007/2008)

Those WaterRow machines can be works of art. Lovely to look at but limited practical application I guess.
Concept2s do have some limitations but one thing you absolutely can’t fault is build quality and longevity. They last forever and take all sorts of punishment.

I think that my C2 nicely accords with my industrial chic design ethos
