I won a pair of fancy sim goggles that project a display onto the lens showing time, split, stroke rate etc. They look very cool.
Trouble is that I’m not getting any swimming done these days and don’t plan to any time soon.
I’ve already offered them to a very lovely Fetchie who I know does swim and might employ them to greater effect than I ever will.
Just finished a session on the rower: 5 x 1500m / 1km recovery. Target was to beat 1:58 pace each time. Managed that quite........comfortably isn’t right but it was achievable certainly. Fitness is improving and a bit of pace is starting to return.

Well done for getting the 10k done on Christmas day Nellers, and that's a big session today, sounds like you nailed it 💪. The Hi-Tech goggles sounds cool, kudos for offering them to a swimmer!!
A steady 5k yesterday and 7k today, gonna have to start visiting the pain cave again soon, it's been a while 😬

Angus Clydesdale of this parish is going to be receiving the magic goggles, and has said he'll provide a little review for the site once he's put them through their paces, so I feel good that they're going to not only a regular swimmer but also a rower and a nice bloke.
I did 3 x 10 min stroke ladders today. Feeling a bit below par, which I think is due to the amount of food and booze I've consumed over the festive period. Halfan hour felt like plenty!

Good man on the goggles 👍
Haha yes I know what you mean, I've felt quite uncomfortable on the erg the last two days. More body abuse tomorrow as it's the running clubs Christmas party, a 3 course meal and more booze 🤢

Those goggles sound like a head-up display, as seen in military aircraft. I wonder if anyone's going to make something similar for runners -- built into a decent pair of shades, for example.
Poor Craggy, yet more food and drink. I feel your pain but it has to be done ...

Well, two out of three isn't bad
Declaring 7,000 metres, which is what I rowed as I listened to the Traveling Wilburys. I like this new way of just putting something into the headphones and then rowing, rather than the structured approach of a fixed distance. I sometimes like to watch the news in a foreign language so next time I think I'll download that from YouTube for a row.

Mrs Nellers has agreed to follow a rowing plan if I work one out for her. So far she's just got on and rowed for half an hour a couple of times most weeks.
I just got her to do a 1km test as a benchmark to set the plan from and to track improvement.
She's gone and done a 4:09.9.
I just checked. That puts her 19th in her age group in the UK.
BEFORE she starts training.
And she just shrugged and looks really non-plussed by this news.
I don't understand this woman any more. *shakes head*
