Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

When I raced, I had to be really scientific about calorie intake. Now I am just a stone overweight and because I can only potter I was thinking just cut out excessive chocolate etc but today I didnt put oil on my salad and used half the amount of butter on my bread. It all helps, right? Not quite hungry yet and about to head off for Shiatsu.
Then comes the need for willpower, when I return: not to eat a chunk of cheese while cooking and not to eat my desert as a starter then realise I didn't nerd a desert 😎

I read the article too, very good...

And from past experience the balance btween maintaining a healthy weight and performance and calorie intake is quite hard!

As it was a nice day, I did 5km run unfuelled at the end of my 16:8. But then I'm different.

5k isn't exactly a long run for you, though is it Fenners? the occasional 5k fasted should be a good thing for fat-loss - I don't think you're "supposed" to do more than a couple a week

However, I always did my morning runs before breakfast when I was working and I did find it easier to lose weight then ...

True, very true. However my fitness has taken a dive in the last six months, so a 5km at my previous 50km pace is an achievement, sadly :(

I don’t use macros just track the in/out. 1 took the 1950 BMR but can’t remember what level of activity I used - I guess I knew higher was wrong. I picked 1500 as reasonable by chance and try not to Max out exercise calories. As I said I’ve run a 4-800 calorie deficit, 9hrs of exercise for 1.5kg a week roughly.

I love a fasted run. Was 10 miles in this morning before it even registered I was fasted, and to hold back a little.

Home for the porridge and a protein shake.

I've never really had any issues running fasted, but always try to keep it to Z1 and Z2.

Totriornottotri, (and others), do you try to stick to a calorie target and not eat (sorry that is a terrible pun) into the surplus created by exercise??

My target (1500) is 400ish below my approx resting rate. I’m averaging 6-800 cal of exercise and eating 2-300 above target. So a bit of both.
