I always used to run fasted. I simply cannot run on a full stomach. Has always been a problem. Usually, I would go out pre-breakfast and even marathon training was done on a virtually empty stomach. Cycling is a totally different matter.

I always run fasted and can run 10 miles it helps as I run early. Interesting talk Totri but my BMR is 1300 it would mean 900 cals then 1/4 exercise calories which would see me on under 1200.That would not be doable at all.

You may be better calculating from your total calories? It also highlights why tracking may be even more important for you? It may take a little longer but there just needs to be that deficit.

Morning all. Back on track today after my blip. Am down 0.8kg from my weight 5 days ago. BF% slightly up indicating it's not a true loss. Whatever truth is...
I've averaged eating about 1550 cals/day since I started measuring but am exercising 5-6k/week. My sedentary TDEE is about 1850 resulting in about a 1200-1300/day cal deficit. Almost precisely what trendweight is telling me: "You are burning 1291 cal/day more than you eat."

azx, have you had any more instances of bonking on a run after the thread you started on 15th Feb? You do seem to be managing with a much larger daily deficit than one would expect to be sustainable for someone doing a significant amout of training.
I'm not sure what you mean by sedentary TDEE, though - I thought TDEE included daily exercise.

Hi RH. No, I only had that one instance, and it was after a rest day, so was wary of it being attributed to weight loss. Since then I've done two 22k runs without a problem.
So your RMR is your coma calorie requirement, and TDEE is some factor multiple of that. In my case, since my job is wfh at a desk, I put sedentary TDEE factor in and then add exercise on top. Some people use an active or highly active factor and then exclude exercise.

Cheers RH. So am I. I would completely scale back my weight loss if I had any signs it was affecting performance. Not because I'm chasing a performance goal, but because I think it's a good sign I'm undereating/overtraining. At the moment everything is aligned in the right direction. One more kilo and I'll officially not be overweight! woo hoo!

Nice Azx. I have basically maintained overnight but I’m still ‘carrying’ yesterday’s excess. Glad that last few days haven’t been flukes!

I am going to weigh myself imminently and shall put this benchmark on here. I was 72 kg at the beginning of the year, dropped to 69 during January, then slipped and stopped weighing so as not to disappoint myself... Fingers crossed... I have been "good" for a few days now and with the help of this thread hopefully stick to that... Reduce my oil and butter use, no snacks, certainly no lumps of cheese!
