Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

When you have your watch near your PC with the ANT stick in the PC, it automatically loads the activities into a folder on your hard drive, and then into Garmin Connect.

When you then go into Import Using the GCP in Fetch, all it is doing is looking for this folder on your PC, you do not have to have your watch nearby, nor have the ANT stick in.

It is very useful, to clear this folder out now and again, if it gets very big with loads of old activities then Fetch seems to struggle and things often time out.

If you are on Windows you'll find the folder at C : \users\username\appdata\roaming\Garmin\devices\device name\activities
Note that the app data folder may be "hidden" and you'll need to enable hidden folders

All the activities are in date order, with the date in the file name, so delete all the old activities, just leaving the ones you still have to load to Fetch.

You should find that the import step takes just a few seconds now.

If you are on a Mac there is an equivalent folder somewhere, but I know not where

Sometimes when it says garmin not found it is caused by dirty contacts on the garmin due to sweat especially models forerunner 205,305 just give them a wash and dry

Mine often freezes at 100%. Usually it's solved by quitting and reopening the browser, and rubbing the contacts.

Thanks Gus. I've found the folder and deleted all the old crap. Now it gets to 33% before getting stuck! It's a 310 so no contacts to rub.

I can't upload at all. But that is because I have mislaid my 305 cradle on my New Year travels. Doh!!!

About This Thread

Just a little note to say thanks for all the comments here and via feedback. The test phase was useful for knocking off a lot of bugs, but there's nothing like the thrill of putting something live to really get that usability feedback flowing :-)

Here's the TO DO list following feedback from users:

1) Solution for only showing runs since last update - DONE
2) Links on successful import to allow direct route to edit/view - DONE
3) Avoid reloading data on choosing different time view.
4) Stop people pressing the button more than once - DONE
5) Auto detect sport where available.
6) Fix rogue pace zones (reported by Duchess, MacApple et al)
7) Max speed (for Mick173)
8) Smoother import of elevation data.
