Rosehip
It was nice to get back into the pool yesterday. Booking online for hr slots - though I noticed that swim-members could just turn up and if there as space were allowed in. 4-lanes, but most people seemed to want to be in the "slow" lane and it looked too busy to be comfortable. Even at my swim-all-day breaststroke pace I could twice get into the fast lane from the medium-fast one when it was empty. That was lovely, a wide (2.5 lanes?) bit of pool to myself
I can imagine that the early morning and evening sessions might be very different and it being the faster lanes that are the busy ones.
I don't know how much of the hr we were allowed, I had a tip booked at the tip and got out after 40 mins.

and I'm chickening out of today's swim in the lake, 40mph winds don't appeal!

I don't blame you, RH! Good to hear you've been to the pool though. Isn't it funny how different places have put in place different arrangements. We have 3 lanes and no more than 5 in a lane so maximum 15 places; at the bigger pool in town, they have up to 27 places so must have more people in a lane. Both run by the same council. Our on-line booking system is working ok with members able to book 4 days in advance (to the minute ie I can access the noon slot at noon 3 days earlier) and non-members (me) booking 3 days in advance. The 6am slots are not popular but the 8am is often fully booked before I could book it (not that I want to!) and the lunchtime slot usually has 4-6 places left when I go on 3 days ahead. There aren't any afternoon or evening slots at my local pool.

I did swim in the lake RoseHip. 8:30 up the lake and 10:30 coming back when it was like being in the sea. Good training but hard work. Drank a fair bit š

5th "return to the pool" session complete and some of the old spark returned, still a lot of work to do. Rotation dreadful.

did one whole length of front crawl, it was marginally faster than my comfortable breaststrike pace but slower than all out "current race pace" breaststroke. Can't decide if it's worth persuing improvement in front crawl or notor not.

- I'm not ready for unexpected sinus washouts and waves overhead yet - need to get a sea swim in to get confidence back, I think.
