Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I am new to swimming and have never worn goggles but think they may help me. I've looked on line and tried to understand the reviews and "best 10" etc but there are so many!! I will be using them in the outdoor pool hopefully all winter and need something that will give me confidence...... so mainly I suppose, not leaking and comfortable. Can anyone help please or is it just a matter of try a few and see what I like?

Goggle-fit can be a wee bit “horses for courses”, but many have some adjustment at the bridge of the nose and this is probably the most overlooked issue of fit.

For outdoors swimming I bought a pair of Zoggs Predators many years ago. They aren’t adjustable at the nose, but they fit me well and I’ve now got 3 pairs (including the original pair). They are medium-large sized eye-sockets, so they’re very comfy as they sit around your eye as opposed to in the eye (like some of the racing goggles). I would steer clear of the large “mask” style goggles unless you really like them. I find they can interfere with breathing.

I will defer to Angus of course, but for me breathing out gently through the nose not only stops water getting in, it also helps keep breathing steady.
