DQ, some people who have run loads and loads say it is still hard work. Perhaps I'm lucky, but even when racing and I get it right it doesn't feel hard work.

For a course that was a loop, there seemed to be a surprising amount of up relative to the amount of down. Ten little kilometres and I was half-killed.

For some unfortunate reason, I have become obsessed with my breathing which leaves me feeling like I am having an anxiety attack all through the run.

I have tried distraction with the view, counting my steps and breaths but all I can think is that I am shallow breathing and cant get a deep breath. I try stomach breathing and then I overcompensate :)

I am asthmatic, but only usually bad in cold weather, and I carry my inhaler and use it when necessary - I am not wheezing or tight chested. Any tips welcome!

tebbern , how long have you been running ? it may be that the fitter you become the more your breathing will settle down , i take my inhaler before i go for a run , try running with some music to take your mind off your breathing . Welcome to Fetch BTW. :)

Thanks Philbo. Been running 3 times a week for about a year, but to be fair, I have a fair bit of weight to lose and very very slow! Generally about 10k a week.

Tough due to the fact I couldn't get enough air into my lungs, but a new route and 9.5 miles on the board.
